This convergence holds special significance for us as we embark on a journey to create an inclusive and supportive environment for all attendees.
Why Neurodiversity Week Matters to SQLBits:
Neurodiversity Week is a celebration of the diverse ways our brains work. It encompasses a spectrum of conditions such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and more. At SQLBits, we recognise the importance of accommodating and embracing neurodiversity in our community. What We Plan to Do:
1. Quiet Zones:
To provide a comfortable space for attendees who may require a quieter environment, we will designate specific quiet zones throughout the venue. These areas will be equipped with comfortable seating and reduced ambient noise to allow for focus, relaxation and just peace and quiet away from the crowds!
2. Access to Professionals:
Understanding the diverse needs of our attendees, we will have a psychotherapist available on-site to offer support and guidance. This service aims to provide an additional layer of assistance for those who may benefit from professional advice or counseling during the event. Thi could be regarding anything as there is no right or wrong for what you can talk to them about. Every feeling and emotion is valid!
4. Carefully Chosen Cutlery and Food Choices:
We are committed to creating an inclusive dining experience by offering carefully chosen cutlery and diverse food options that cater to various dietary preferences and sensory sensitivities. We aim to ensure that everyone can enjoy the culinary offerings without compromise.
5. Inclusive Communication:
Communication is key, and we will strive to provide information in diverse formats, making it accessible to all. This includes visual aids, clear signage, and alternative formats for important announcements.
