SQL Server 2012 TAP: Lessons learned

This session presents the approach, execution and lessons learned from the SQL Server 2012 upgrade project for Sundio Group - a leading European tour operator, based in Rotterdam, Netherlands.  

The project was delivered by Sundio Group together with Coeo and assistance from Microsoft SQLCAT team through the early adoption TAP program.

This session will provide details of the approach adopted to de-risk the program, including functional and performance testing and areas where we were able to influence the SQL Server product features and design.  The session will also includes details of issues encountered, lessons learned and recommendations for others considering approaching similar projects.

    Justin is a Principal Consultant for Coeo, a Microsoft Gold Partner providing SQL Server consulting services for upgrade, performance tuning, scalability and availability solutions for SQL Server.  Coeo also offer Remote DBA services for SQL Server platform. Prior to Coeo - Justin spent 3 years working for Microsoft as a Premier Field Engineer during which he delivered SQL Server support consulting to some of Microsoft’s largest finance and government customers.  Justin co-authored Wrox IT Pro: SQL Server Performance Tuning, two Syngress exam guides on SQL Server 2008 and contributed to SQL Server 2008 Internals and Troubleshooting guide with Christian Bolton, Brent Ozar and James Rowland-Jones.
