Introduction to Performance Analysis and Tuning

In this session we will look at the toolset you have available to you to find performance problems in your system. Once you've found the problem you need to solve it. We will show you how you can go about resolving your problems.

We will look at SQL Server profiler, Dynamic Management Views and Perfmon amongst other things to help us identify the problem.

To resolve the problem we will look at Query Plans and SET options to help us identify the source of the problem and look at some resolutions to common problems. This will include changes to queries, table design changes and index changes.

After this session you will have a understanding of the tools available to you to resolve performance problems and how to use them.
