Unuseful SQL Server Features
The common internet 'wisdom' about some of the SQL Server features tells that there is no reason at all to use such features as datatypes Varchar(1) or Vardecimal. Varchar(1) is said to occupy at least 2 bytes in any case, but is it really occupying this space ? Vardecimal is obsolete because it provides worse compression ratio and worse performance, but is it correct for all cases ?
This session is about revisiting those features.
