POSH Clustering
Surely the whole point of Windows that you are supposed to use the GUI?
Isn’t one of the biggest benefits of SQL Server the fact that it has an incredibly powerful set of client tools and interfaces? If all this is true then why do we need PowerShell to manage our SQL Server Failover Cluster? Why? Because it is fast, can automate routine and complex tasks and can leverage the power of .NET, Windows and SMO.
In the October 2009 issue of TechNet Magazine Microsoft stated that that PowerShell was “the single most important skill a Windows administrator will need”. Perhaps it is time to start learning it?
This exciting session will be delivered by PowerShell expert James Boother and Clustering expert Mark Broadbent where we will demonstrate how to use PowerShell to perform SQL Failover Cluster administration and automate simple and complex operations. You will learn why you can, from now on, safely ignore the GUI!
