1 Database or 1,000 Databases-What's the difference?
What is scale? You manage one database, or 10 databases what
do they have in common? Simply they are of the same scale. The strategies and
techniques that you use to manage a handful of databases all straightforward
and well known.
Now what happens if we have to manage 100 databases? Can you
use the same different strategies and techniques? How about 500? Is this still the same? Now
let’s start scaling, let’s jump to 1000 databases. Do your strategies and techniques
stay the same?
In this session we will explore the differences between
managing one database and managing 1000 databases. This is based upon real
world practical experience from someone who has been there and done that. We
will discuss different strategies and techniques, along with the necessary automation.
Leave the session feeling grateful that you don’t have a
large number of databases to tend.
