Each DBMS allowing concurrent multi-user access needs to think about consistency (ACID).Locking is the key answer, so it is a good thing. At the same time it can be annoying. Locking leads to blocking which very often results in bad performance.In this session we will have a look at how locking works, how it affects query performance, how to view locking and blocking information and how to influence SQLServer’s default behavior using locking hints and isolation levels. We will introduce key concepts with slides but spend most of the times looking at demo’s.
